Indonesian Art and Culture 1992 (Traditional Dance I)

To increase public appreciation of the arts and culture of Indonesia, starting in 1992 the Directorate General of Posts and Telecommunication issued a stamp series "Indonesian Art and Culture" featuring dances from every province in Indonesia. The first issue of this series featuring Ngremo dance from East Java and Gending Sriwijaya dance from South Sumatera, with a denomination of Rp 200 and Rp 500, respectively. In the first issue of this series, there was a misprint. Misprint occurred on Gending Sriwijaya dance. Images were printed on the stamp is not Gending Sriwijaya dance, but Melinting dance from Lampung. Due to printing errors earlier, stamps with denominations of Rp 500 eventually withdrawn and no longer circulated.

International Conference On The Great Apes Of The World

To promote the world image of Indonesia in the field of conservation of animals and ecosystems, especially the great apes, on 18th - 22th December 1991 in Jakarta and Pangkalan Bun Kalimantan was held an International Conference on The Great Apes of The World. In this connection the Directorate General of Posts and Telecommunications on the 18th December 1991 issues a set of commemorative stamps depicting Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) which live in Sumatera and Kalimantan Island.

In the frame of introducing the Indonesian art and culture, the Directorate General of Posts and Telecommunications issues series of special stamps : Indonesian Art and Culture depicting the traditional wedding dress from several regions of Indonesia. In issues on 1991 featured traditional wedding dress from West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau, and Irian Jaya.
