Flora 1992 (Flower Identity of Indonesia)

Flowers with their beauty could be the source of inspiration. Flowers could be the means to express the feelings that can't be expressed in words. Indonesia, as a tropical country, is very rich in it's many kinds of flowers. Among those various kinds of flowers, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has chosen three kinds of them as National Flower, Enchantment Flower, and Rare Flower, each for Jasmin (Jasminum sambac), Orchid (Phalaenopsis ambilis B.), and Rafflesia (Rafflesia arnoldii).

To popularize those flowers, on January 20th, 1992 the Directorate General of Posts and Telecommunications is issuing a set of special stamps "Flora 1992". These are to the following specification :
  • Rp 200 representing the Orchid (Phalaenopsis ambilis B.) as Enchantment Flower
  • Rp 500 representing the Rafflesia (Rafflesia arnoldii) as Rare Flower
  • Rp 1000 representing the Jasmin (Jasminum sambac) as National Flower
